Special Events and Festivals
Pismo Beach features many special events throughout the year including, a Custom Car Show, 4th of July Fireworks, Western Days, Clam Festival and the Marching Band Review. Additionally, the city is home to two Dixieland jazz festivals. Pismo Beach is also the home of the migrating Monarch Butterflies who come each year from the end of October through February.
Don't miss the Coastal Discovery Center in San Simeon, touring the renovated Visitor's Center in Hearst's Castle, seeing the new Piedras Blancas Lighthouse or the amazing wonder of the Monarch Butterfly Grove. Rocky stretches of coastline make for excellent tide pooling—the occasional sea lion may even turn up to greet you. Enjoy Pismo Beach whale watching nearly year-round.

This amazing company has guided tours via HUMMER on Pismo Beach to Oceano Dunes for a breath-taking, scenic overlook. From Shell Beach, they also offer ocean-kayaking tours as well as tours ranging into Los Padres National Forest above scenic Lopez Lake. Leisure time activities draw visitors to the area for everything from golf to sport fishing to running ATV's down the beach. Nearby Grover Beach is the gateway to the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular recreation Area. The only drive-on beach in California. ATVs, kayaks, boogie boards and even horses are available for visitors in Pismo Beach.
